Crater Cities

Excavated Basin Networks & Atmospheric Stratification

A **Crater City** is not a simple geological hole in the ground; it is a massive, state-sized cellular landscape engineered around class divide, industrial utility, and corporate interests. Built as interconnected networks of excavated basins, these city-states represent the strongholds of Norman corporatocracy.

1. State-Sized Scale & Basin Networks

A city-state like **New Horizon City** is massive, spanning a territory the size of a small state and containing hundreds of distinct, specialized sectors. These basins are linked by high-speed transit tubes, mag-rails, and heavily monitored ridge lines. The depth of any given sector is determined solely by its main utility—such as heavy manufacturing, deep-bore mining, agricultural hydroponics, or municipal administration.

2. The Economics of Air Filtration

In the hyper-capitalistic regimes governed by entities like **GLOBAL**, clean air is a bought luxury. Access to breathable atmosphere is transacted under a strict class-tiered system:

⚠️ SYSTEM STATUS REPORT // GLOBAL CORP TERMINAL

Filtration Type: Public Passive Circulation // Air Filter Wall boundary currents.

Atmospheric Quality: Extremely Low. Because the air must travel passively over vast, state-sized basin distances to reach "The Pits," the oxygen that settles in these neglected pockets is stagnant, thin, and heavily degraded by industrial pollutants by the time the working class breathes it.

3. The Norman Cybernetic Divide

Because Crater City architecture relies on artificial, heavily filtered environments, its Norman inhabitants are highly compatible with conventional, high-end cybernetic augmentations. This has created a stark technological and physiological divide between Norman city dwellers and the biological specialized Hyōménal populations of the surface.
